The Artist Behind the Brand

A little bit about me and my brand…

My name is Danielle and I’m the owner of Dmac Studios.

I began my entrepreneur journey when I was 18 years old and as cheesy as it sounds - becoming an artist is all I ever wanted to do growing up.

I graduated with a Bachelor in Fine Arts at RMIT University in 2019 and was lucky enough to travel with the School of Art to America for a study tour.

I refer to myself as a mixed media artist, as it is just a collective way of saying I dabble in a little bit of everything. The majority of my art is created either through painting, photography or a combination of both.

My artworks are often very bold, textured and experimental. I draw my inspiration through the process of creation, experimenting with various paint viscosities and how each medium interacts with another.

Personally, my works often have a metaphorical meaning, resonating with the process of layers and how that can be applied to human emotions and our day to day experiences. Each artwork is a chaotic burst of abstract expressionism, the importance is not on the final outcome but rather on the experience and process behind its creation. Though I understand not all my viewers will interpret the artworks just as I do, I encourage you all to create your own connection to how you perceive my works.

My practice really expanded after the visit to America which opened up a whole new avenue of potential where I could drive my practice. I’ve included photos of some of my favourite paintings from my time at art school. These artworks are all experimental pieces to see how far I can push my mediums. To see the way that each different paint interacts with another of different properties, to what limits I can push the viscosity and will certain materials reject working together?

The focus of my practice was purely to investigate the materials I work with. Through building countless layers, the paintings themselves began to hold a metaphorical meaning. Movements were either swift and delicate, or powerful and chaotic - the emotion I experienced at that point in my life was heavily imprinted into the markings I made on the canvas. Each artwork had a record of history, not only through the technical processes of its creation but also through the limits by which I pushed myself to document my personal emotional experiences and journey.
